Bengaluru: With monsoon gaining pace, the threat of dengue has resurfaced in Bengaluru.
The BBMP has recorded 69 cases in the past week and 442 cases in July alone. So far this year, 1,685 cases have been reported.
On Monday, BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao instructed officials to step up preventive measures and identify mosquito breeding sites.
He directed the use of chemicals to control larvae and stressed on public awareness campaigns. He also suggested installing OV traps in households and called for regular fogging and pesticide spraying.
Dengue cases typically rise between May and August due to the rains. The civic body has urged residents to avoid water stagnation and maintain hygiene around their homes.
