Colleges affiliated to Bangalore University (BU) must depute teachers for the evaluation of answer sheets or else their results will not be declared.

The university said in a press release: "The colleges should ensure the teachers concerned to attend the evaluation work, failing which it will be viewed very seriously and action will be initiated as per (the) Bangalore University Examination Ordinance 2011. As per Chapter 13, Section 74 of KSU ACT 2000, evaluation work is mandatory. In case the college fails to send the teachers for evaluation, the results of such colleges will not be processed and BU will initiate disaffiliation process against such colleges. Besides, the Commissioner, Collegiate Education, will also be informed to withhold the salaries of teachers of aided and government colleges who abstain for (sic) valuation work."

A senior university official said the move was necessary to address the shortage of evaluators, which had happened last year and delayed the declaration of results. "If colleges depute evaluators, we can complete the process quickly and announce the results as per the schedule," the official told DH.

Teachers with three years of full-time service or five years of part-time service will have to evaluate the papers.

The evaluation of the answer sheets of third- and fifth-semester undergraduate examinations is scheduled to begin on December 31.
