The incident occurred when Dayanand accompanied by Shivajinagar Corporator Farida Ishtiyak landed at Hotel Hilal, which was allegedly run in unhygienic conditions. Later, the owners Subhaan and Abdul Rasheed got into a heated argument with Dayanand and the others present there and they allegedly tried to use force on the Deputy Mayor.
BJP corporators, playing down the incident, stated that the verbal duel was due to the hotel owners being unable to ascertain who the visitor was.
