Despite the BBMP shutting down offices functioning illegally in eight buildings behind the BDA complex in Koramangala, five offices located in a single building resumed work on Thursday.

Residents are outraged over such brazen attempts by commercial agencies to encroach the buildings in the predominantly residential area.

Nitin Seshadri from the Koramangala 3rd Block residents’ welfare association said all the eight buildings function illegally.

“There’s a service apartment for namesake, but it looks like a hotel is also enlisted in some of the websites,” Seshadri said.

He suspected authorities are in cahoots over the functioning of these illegal agencies, adding that the residents would file a police complaint.

BBMP’s health officials rushed to the building on Friday and ordered the closure of the offices.

Bhagyalakshmi from the health office said three of the five organisations downed the shutters immediately, while two offices refused to shut and are moving the court against the BBMP.

“We’ll ensure no commercial activities take place in residential areas,” she assured.
