A trio—Arjun Kamath, Advay Avinash and Vivan Prakash—presented 'The teen dream: Bengaluru 2040' where they charted a three-pronged approach for a sustainable Bengaluru.

The three-pronged approach, according to the teens, includes urban agriculture, use of solar panels for power generation and an efficient solid waste management system.

Speaking about Bengaluru's need for growing its own fruits and vegetables, Advay spoke about vertical farming and anaerobic farming in unused urban spaces like rooftops in both private and public buildings.

"Land is becoming scarce and the demand for growing food is huge. Therefore, it is the need of the hour to adapt soilless cultivation methods like hydroponics and aeroponics," he said.

Arjun Kamath, who spoke about sailing towards sustainability, touched upon the importance of adopting solar panels for power generation. He said that lakes can be used to install solar panels. According to him, solar panels on lakes will slow down the evaporation process while also stopping the dumping of waste in lakes.

Transitioning to waste management, Vivan Prakash shed light on waste segregation as a primary step in waste management, where he said that waste should be segregated into metal waste, plastic waste and organic waste before processing.

The teen visionaries said that a clean and sustainable Bengaluru is their dream and it is important to work towards a sustainable Bengaluru together.
