Bengaluru: The Prisons and Correctional Services Department has finally approved the Bengaluru police's request to question its officials over irregularities at Bengaluru's Central Prison.
Police received written permission from the prison department in this regard on Friday, well-placed sources told DH.
The case pertains to special treatment provided to certain inmates at the Parappana Agrahara prison, exposed by a viral photograph in August 2024. Three FIRs were filed over the incident.
On February 20, DH reported that Malini Krishnamoorthy, Director General of Police (DGP) of Prisons and Correctional Services, had yet to give permission for police interrogation of officials from the department in connection with the incident.
The report, 'Irregularities at Bengaluru Central Prison: Probe hits roadblock over pending nod', explained that investigations into two cases had made no progress even after five months.
