Bengaluru: A discussion scheduled for Sunday will celebrate the life and legacy of Aparna Vastarey, Kannada TV personality, actor and former radio jockey who passed away on July 11.
Entitled 'Yours, Aparna: Honoring the Mistress of Pearled Words', the event will feature four individuals who knew her personally.
The speakers include Aparna's husband and architect, writer and poet Nagaraj Vastarey; actor, director and theatre writer Yashavant Sirdeshpande; Olympian broadcaster and voice-over specialist Shankar Prakash; and independent consultant Bharathi Hegde.
They will also reflect on Aparna's two-year battle with lung cancer, and raise awareness about lung cancer, shedding light on the importance of early detection and treatment. The discussion, to be conducted in both Kannada and English, will be followed by a Q&A session, according to the organisers.
A beloved voice and face in Karnataka’s media landscape, Aparna captivated audiences from her early days as the first presenter on AIR FM Rainbow to her years as a television host and actor in shows like Masanada Hoovu and Majaa Talkies. She also lent her golden voice to Kannada announcements in Namma Metro.
