Posing as drug peddlers, K R Puram police arrested an interstate gang and caught three Rajasthan natives who brought ganja into Bengaluru on trucks.

Police arranged bundles of fake currency notes used in movies to win the gang’s trust. The manner in which police nabbed Jodhpur residents Dayalram, 38, Poonaram, 24, and Buddaram, 23, on Friday morning seemed like a movie scene.

They seized around 500 grams of drugs and a truck, worth Rs 1 crore.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) D Devaraj said KR Puram police received information about the gang that supplied large quantities of ganja to the city peddlers after buying them from sellers in Visakhapatnam.

Bengaluru police commissioner Kamal Pant said that when his men approached the dealers asking for a large quantity of ganja, the dealers first wanted to confirm if they had the capacity to buy such large amounts of drugs.

Devaraj had organised for duplicate currency notes from a film company.

The fake money was shown to them when the disguised policemen reached the godown where they were to deliver the ganja consignment.

The police immediately caught them. The gang had altered the cabin behind the driver seat and hid the drugs, Devaraj said. Police are hunting for the main suppliers to the gang.
