Italian food is something that we all have a soft corner for. And at La Piazza in Hyatt Regency, the new menu is quite appropriately meeting Delhiites’ love for the same. Curated by chefs Ivan Chieregatti and Alessandro Sandrolini, the menu is designed in such a way that it gives the fine dining restaurant a fresh feel.
On a glaring hot Saturday afternoon, the restaurant had every table occupied till the last minute of its closing time. One would not feel typically in this five-star hotel’s setting which is synonymous to an Italian (trattoria) style dining with a live kitchen concept. No compromises on the comfort and hospitality though, the place is cosy and cheerful.
With increased options for vegetarians, the new menu remains true to being authentic. It is inspired by traditional Italian cuisine, the seasonality of the ingredients offers a delightful change to La Piazza’s regular visitors.
They emphasise on the show kitchen, which features a wood-burning pizza oven that lends a typical flavour to pizzas, as well as a counter displaying herbs and other food items. The action created by chefs as they cook pastas and pizzas makes one curious about their order.
A menu that changes daily is displayed to diners on a blackboard, that is taken to the tables by the waiters. The food served is pre-plated, except for lunch, and the rest of the day is a buffet of antipasti and desserts, along with a choice of a pre-plated main course.
Gourmet specialties like the Pizza La pizza is the restaurant’s signature pizza, definitely a must try.
The wine list at La Piazza comprises a line up of fine wines from around the world. They have tried to maintain a balance between grape variety and the ingredients of the restaurant’s dishes. The ultimate celebration of this is in the nuances that each wine highlights —the subtle expression of the grape variety, the terroir, the vintage and the wine maker.
So for a casual date, or even regular hangout, head to try La Piazza’s new menu.
