The police had arrested Srinivasan alias LTTE Srinivasan on November 23 and recovered a pistol and three live bullets from him.

During the interrogation, Srinivasan told the police about Roy, who used fake official seal of district magistrate of Jammu district and some fake licences. He transported the arms using the fake seal and licences. Srinivasan also divulged details about Roy’s whereabouts, which led to the arrest, the police said.

Roy was dismissed from the Indian Army reportedly for his objectionable behaviour. He was a close associate of Aparajitha Basak and Ramaraksha Jaiswal, who were allegedly involved in a murder in 2001 at Hotel Ashoka in Bangalore. Roy was also a bodyguard for them. Earlier, the police had arrested him and a court had sentenced him to life imprisonment.

He came out of prison on parole in August, 2008, and had been absconding since then. He allegedly committed crimes in Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. He was in touch with rowdies--Shivakumar, Marenalli Jagga, Narasimhamurthy and others-- in Bangalore. Roy allegedly supplied revolvers, bullets and weapons to them.

On interrogation, Roy gave details of rowdies, who had bought pistols and arms from him.

Based on the inputs, the police arrested Narasim­hamurthy (38), a resident of Hesaraghatta, Shivakumar (35) of Bharathinagar, Shiva (24) of Nelagudige village in Doddaballapur taluk and Harish Kumar (23) of Huvinayakanahalli in Bangalore North taluk.

Narasimhamurthy is allegedly involved in three murders in Nelamangala, Soladevanahalli and Brahmavar in Udupi district.

The police recovered six pistols and 27 bullets from Shivakumar. The Sampigehalli police arrested Marenalli Jagga and recovered weapons from him.

Teenager killed

A teenager was killed on the spot when a goods vehicle, in which he was travelling, rammed against a vehicle on KR Puram hanging bridge on Friday morning.

The victim Bikas from Odisha was working at a factory near Hoskote. According to the police, Bikas, Ravi and Manoj were travelling in the vehicle when the accident occurred around 12.15 am.

The driver failed to notice the vehicle parked on the bridge and rammed against it.

Six held for murders

SJ Park police arrested six persons on the charge of murder and recovered lethal weapons from them.

S Gangadhar alias Gajendra, V Prakash, Vijay Kumar, Krishna, Arun Kumar and Manu are the arrested. They allegedly hacked Velu, a resident of Ramanna Garden on November 28 over an old rivalry.

Gajendra, Rudra and others had allegedly killed Velu’s brother Subramani, a few years ago. In retaliation, Velu and his associate had allegedly murdered Rudra’s brother Ashwathnarayan.

Rudra hatched a conspiracy and murdered Velu to take revenge for his brother’s death. Rudra, Gajendra and others had also allegedly murdered retired police SP and KPTCL security vigilance officer Thammaiah in Yelahanka a couple of years ago. Rudra is absconding.
