Bengaluru: Vyalikaval police have arrested a woman who allegedly tried to murder a 21-year-old near Basappa Garden in Malleswaram on Sunday by attacking her with a machete after a dispute.

The accused has been identified as Lalita, a 45-year-old housemaid. The victim, Sushmita, is a resident of Vyalikaval. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday.

According to a complaint filed by Sushmita’s family, the attack stemmed from a minor quarrel between the two women. Police said Lalita had approached Sushmita to offer advice but was met with scolding and taunts instead.

Following the argument, Lalita allegedly entered Sushmita’s room and attacked the sleeping woman in the face with a machete, also threatening to kill her.

She then reportedly fled the scene under the pretext of rushing home.

Sushmita was taken to a private hospital by her family, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Vyalikaval police have registered a case against Lalita for attempted murder, and an investigation is underway.
