The arrest followed a complaint by the employer, who discovered the theft after returning from a trip.

The complainant had left for Pune on June 28 after checking the locker containing a 20-gram gold mangalsutra, two 20-gram gold bangles, five 24-gram gold rings, a 3-gram gold pendant, 250 grams of silver ornaments, and a pair of 50-gram silver anklets.

On returning on August 26, the complainant found the items missing and suspected the three domestic workers who had access to the house. A theft case was registered at the Siddapura police station.

The police interrogated three suspects — Shaanu Das, Anu Das and Pooja Bista — on September 6. During questioning, Pooja, who was currently employed in the house, admitted to stealing the jewellery and revealed that she had sold some of the gold at a shop in Wilson Garden.

Based on her confession, the police raided her residence in Jayanagar 2nd Block and the jewellery shop, recovering 67 grams of gold and 300 grams of silver.

The suspect was produced before the court on September 6 and remanded to judicial custody.
