Driver, anganwadi teacher donate organs after death

A car driver who was always on call to help people in need, lived up to his reputation by donating his organs post his death in an accident. 36-year-old Babu S, a native of Kolar met with an accident and suffered a head injury near Mulbagal, Kolar.

He was taken to the nearest government hospital, but, was later referred to BGS Global Hospital where he was declared brain-dead. His family consented to donate his organs.

Babu's brother Chandrashekhar said that his brother always helped people in emergency. “If anybody had to visit the hospital in the middle of the night, my brother was on call, and people knew that he will never say no. He always liked to help people in need and even after his death he is living through others,” said the brother.

Babu's kidneys, heart and corneas were donated. His heart was air-lifted to Chennai's Global hospital.

Similarly, 46-year-old Saroja, an anganwadi teacher met with an accident while she skid over a speed hump and suffered a head injury near Old Chandrapura on Hosur Road. She was taken to the nearest hospital, and after surgery, was shifted to Fortis Hospital on Bannerghatta Road where she was declared brain-dead. Her family gave consent to donate her organs.

Sagar, a relative said, "Saroja was friendly and kind. She was good with children and liked her job a lot."

Saroja's heart valves, liver, kidneys, corneas and lungs were donated. Her lungs were air-lifted to Chennai's Global Hospital.
