Bengaluru: The Yelahanka New Town police arrested two people for allegedly murdering two men over a suspected dispute related to a woman, police officials said on Thursday.
The arrested are Sarga, 21, and Sameer, 19, both from Nepal, who have been accused of murdering Vikram Singh and Chhoto Toori.
The police said that Singh, who hails from Bihar, worked as a security guard at a vacant factory near Yelahanka New Town, where the murder occurred. Toori, from Nepal, was a driver for a local garment factory. Singh also lived on the premises.
The duo were found dead on Monday morning by a tea seller. The police were alerted and a murder case was registered. Police officials said that the murder occurred on Sunday night when Singh and Toori were having drinks and devouring chicken curry, which they had cooked.
Police said that Sargam and Sameer arrived uninvited and began arguing with Singh. Singh, according to the police, was attempting to woo Sargam’s woman friend.
“He was sending messages and making video calls to the woman,” a senior police officer said.
Arguments led to a physical assault and Singh was attacked with iron rods, killing him on the spot. Toori tried to intervene and was assaulted, too, leading to his death.
The police analysed CCTV feeds and zeroed in on Sargam and Sameer, who were arrested as they were attempting to flee the city.
