The Aero India-2015 has turned into a money-spinner for hotels, which are making a killing with scores of delegates from across the globe landing in the City for the five-day event. All the major hotels have jacked up the room tariffs by 40-50 percent.

A room in The Chancery Pavilion, a five-star hotel on Residency Road now costs 40-50 per cent more than its normal rent. While no base rooms are available in the hotel, luxury suites come at a hefty rental.

Pradeep, reservation associate for The Chancery Pavilion said, “All the rooms in our hotel are booked barring two or three luxury rooms. The pricing of the rooms, not only for us but all the hotels, is dynamic and keep changing on a day-to-day basis depending on the demand. For the Aero India show, definitely, the demand has gone up and so have the tariffs for our property as well as all that of others”.

Similarly, Hotel Le Meridien on Golf Course Road has hiked the room tariffs by 50 per cent and all the rooms are booked for the five days of the Aero Show.

Nanda Kumar, Revenue Manager, Le Meridien said, “ All our rooms are sold out. It is a matter of demand and supply. Since the demand is more the tariffs will go automatically up. The rooms in our hotel are available at 50 percent more tariffs during this period.”
A base room in ITC Gardenia on Residency Road which would cost Rs 11,000 plus taxes is now available for Rs 20,000-25,000 plus taxes. The hotel is fully packed on all the days of the show, said Tamal, an associate in the reservation department of the hotel.
Similarly, at Hotel Lalit Ashok on Kumar Krupa Road, the tariff of a base room is Rs 14,000 plus taxes and a luxury suite is upwards of Rs 27,000 plus taxes.

Routine visitors affected
Not only hotels, even the serviced apartments are running packed on all the days of the event. In fact, there is a shortage of rooms for those who are on other business trips to the City. Even business travellers who have nothing to do with the show and are on routine conferences are getting affected by the shortage of rooms and jacked up tariffs.
For the past one month, an official with the IT/BT industry has been trying to get rooms for his international delegates for an event in February, but to no avail.

Sunish, who works in Manyata Tech Park, said, “Most of these hotels told us they were booked almost four to six months in advance for the Aero India Show and there are no base rooms. Only suites are available and that too in very few hotels for exorbitant tariffs which are way out of company budget”.
