Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday launched surprise raids on the premises of a Karnataka Congress MLA in connection with cases under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

Sources said at least five premises in Bengaluru, which also included those belonging to S N Subba Reddy, Congress MLA from Bagepalli in Chikkaballapur district, were being searched.

Sources added that Reddy's business partner was also under their radar.

While an official statement was awaited, sources said the ED focused on the MLA's alleged deposits in foreign banks and his investments in purchasing immovable properties in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Germany.

The MLA is yet to respond publicly to the raids.
