The election for the post of deputy mayor and the chairmen of all standing committees in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be held on December 5.

A press release by Shivayogi Kalasad, the regional commissioner, said: “The elections will be held on December 5 from 11.30 am onwards at the BBMP council hall.”

The polls for the post is being held following the death of Ramila Umashankar while she was incumbent in the office. Ramila, a corporator from Kaveripura ward was elected as the deputy Mayor on September 28. She passed away on October 5 following cardiac arrest. The chairmen of all 12 standing committees will also be elected on December 5.
