Bengaluru: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) implemented enhanced security measures at all major railway stations across the Bengaluru division on Wednesday.
The security arrangements are being done on the directives of the Ministry of Railways to assess and strengthen the preparedness and response mechanisms of the RPF against potential threats and emergencies.
Railway police personnel carried out intensive checking and surveillance at entry and exit points of KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur, SMVT Bengaluru, Bengaluru Cantonment, KR Puram, Yelahanka, Bangarpet, Mandya, Satya Santhi Prasanthi Nilayam and other stations.
Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) were deployed, patrolling in and around station premises was increased, and a flag march was conducted.
The personnel also conducted random baggage screening using handheld and stationary scanners, increased CCTV monitoring through integrated control rooms to track live station activity, and enacted mock threat scenarios to evaluate the coordination among RPF, GRP, local police and station staff, the South Western Railway (SWR) said in a statement.
