Bengaluru: Unidentified assailants fatally hacked a former gram panchayat president on the outskirts of Bengaluru, according to the police.
Nanjesh, from Honganidoddi village, Bengaluru South district, was at a dhaba with a few of his associates on Saturday night when unidentified assailants barged in and attacked him with machetes. Nanjesh was declared dead at a hospital.
Nanjesh (45) was reportedly associated with the local Congress party unit and was previously the president of the Achalu gram panchayat.
Police investigations showed that Nanjesh had quarrelled with a man regarding a site in Sathanur a few days ago.
This soured land deal was the motive for the murder.
The police have opened a case of murder and launched a manhunt for the assailants.
