Cultural activities, fashion show and celebrity presence rocks Amity Youth Fest.

It was fun, fun, fun at Amity University’s recent three-day annual extravaganza ‘Amity Youth Fest 2013’. The fest started with a bang and when the curtains came down, Bollywood singers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant wowed the audience.

The fest covered a range of events, showcasing the students’ skills, talent and bravado. Students had a platform for their cultural and intellectual expression.

Over 4000 students, from 250 institutions – IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, BIT Mesra, Xavier Institute of Management, Delhi School of Economics, to name a few – participated in over 300 events.

It was a time of excitement and testing of wits. Competition was fierce. The university campus was buzzing.

Salim and Sulaiman Merchant entertained students with favourites like Ei khuda kuch to bata tu rahta kahan, Kurbaan hua, Ye he fashion ka jawla, Dance pe chance maar le and Shukrana. They were accompanied by singers Shraddha Pandey and Abbas Joshi.

During the valediction, ‘Rang Raise’, a folk dance competition, was judged by choreographers Ranjan Majumdar and Farukh Siddhiqui. The first prize went to the ‘Nitya Group’ from Amity University, for their Kerala folk dance; the second was bagged by the ‘Khalsa Group’ from Amity Institute of Biotechnology for their bhangra performance, and the third prize went to the team from ITM, Gurgaon. The special performance award went to the ‘Chakras Team’ of Amity Business School for their Maharastra folk dance.

On the second day, actor Jackky Bhagnani performed the Gangnam style dance. The dancers of Amity joined in.

Over 800 students took part in a fashion show. Their designs revealed their creativity. BSc students (Fashion Design) from the Amity School of Fashion Technology showcased their graduation design collection.

Other competitions that did not go unnoticed were the Aphesia Rock Band competition, Antarangi Nukkad Natak competition, Nritya Arsh solo classical dance competition, Oscillation western dance, Lean-e-ation youth talent competition, Swar Manthan solo singing competition and the choreography competition.In a nutshell, everyone had a good time.
