Bengaluru: The Kolar police have registered an FIR against the vice-chancellor of Bengaluru North University (BNU) under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act 2015 and also under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (U/s-356(2).
Manjunatha R, working as guest faculty at the BNU, has filed a private complaint before the District Sessions Court in Kolar. The court has directed the police to register FIR, conduct investigation and submit the report.
Following the directions from court, the police have registered an FIR.
In the FIR, the complainant accused the University Vice-Chancellor Niranjana (Vanalli) of insulting him based on his caste. “Though there was no complaint against me, the vice-chancellor had placed additional agenda in the syndicate meeting making false allegations against me and also tried to defame me. The vice-chancellor is harassing me as I belong to the SC community,” the complaint stated.
