A senior executive at Infosys Technologies has filed a police complaint against a former employee for sending abusive and threatening messages to the company's senior staff in revenge for sacking him.
Based on a complaint from Santosh Nair, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, Infosys, the Electronics City police on Thursday registered an FIR against Rohan Sareen, a 32-year-old software engineer from Ambala, Haryana, under sections of the Information Technology Act and IPC sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke the breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Sareen was hired in December 2011 but fired in November 2016 over misconduct. In revenge, he sent defamatory and abusive messages by Twitter, SMS and e-mail to the company's senior staff, Nair said in the police complaint.
The company initially ignored him but decided to approach the police when the messages continued unabated.
Police are trying to trace Sareen and his location through the IP address that he allegedly used to send the e-mails.
