Amanda Bachalli launched ‘Spring Summer 2012 Maternity Wear Collection’ in a city hotel last week.

The show had various outfits which were rich in aesthetic elements. Models like Priya Nayak, Jackie Shetty, Pashmina Barker and nine others walked the ramp, showcasing the new designs, meant for expectant mothers.

The collection was divided into day wear, night wear, evening wear and floral designs comprising gowns, skirts, shorts, party wears, ‘kurtis’, leggings, trousers and many more.

The models paired these outfits with matching accessories and bags. As the models walked the ramp with much confidence, a few of the pregnant women in the audience were thrilled.

The floral printed outfits in contrast colours were much appreciated by all. The white coloured night wears were simple yet elegant. The plain gowns and printed ‘kurtis’ seemed to be very comfortable. They were designed in a range of styles and colours for maximum versatility. The speciality of the evening was unveiled when the real-life expectant mothers — designer Amanda Bachalli and model Pashmina Barker made an entry on the stage.

Amanda said that being pregnant inspired her to design something that would suit the today’s style conscious pregnant women. “Women in India have a limited choice when it comes to maternity clothing. Being pregnant doesn’t mean a pause in your style quotient. In fact, it is a happy occasion for an expectant mother to flaunt her baby bump month after month,” she said.

She added that all these clothes were designed keeping in mind the practicality and comfort of the wearer. “All the outfits are made from cotton and sheer fabrics. I have categorised them for different months in pregnancy as well,” she said.

After flaunting maternity wear, Faith, a model said, “All of us were looking cute in those dresses. It was a different experience for us to wear maternity outfits. We enjoyed the show completely,” she said.

Dr Rehan Sayeed, founder of ‘Motherhood Birthing Center’, which was also part of the show said, “The luxurious clothes designed by Amanda resonate well with our philosophy that an expectant mother and her baby deserve nothing but the best. We assure the safety of both the mother and the baby and we have plans to make it a one stop shop for today’s mothers.”
