Silicon City Group of Institutions conducted a one-day workshop titled ‘Vermicomposting Awareness Programme’ recently.

The workshop was an enlightening experience for all those who attended it.

It was inaugurated by Dr Vaman Acharya, chairman, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Karnataka and Dr S Harish Joshi, retired professor and HOD of Zoology, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru was the facilitator.

Vaman Acharya spoke about the dumping of waste on the outskirts and how the land loses fertility.

He also spoke about the process of recycling and how it can be used constructively.

Dr. Harish Joshi gave a live demonstration about how vermicomposting plays an important role in the agricultural sector.

The main aim of the event was to focus on the idea of managing solid waste, maintain a better environment and support the Swachh Bharat campaign.
