Bengaluru: The WhatsApp account of former minister and MLA R Roshan Baig was allegedly hacked by cybercriminals, police officials said.
Baig, 72, informed the police that after the breach, fraudsters gained unauthorised access to his account and began sending messages to his contacts, requesting money and sharing suspicious links. He claimed he did not send these messages, which appeared to be part of a scam.
"I have already informed my contacts not to respond to these messages and to ignore any suspicious requests from my number. I am deeply concerned about the misuse of my identity and the potential financial or reputational harm it may cause to others,” Baig told the police.
Following his complaint, the East CEN police registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
