Four held for bike theft, 55 vehicles recovered

A four-member gang, including two parking attendants at a metro station, were arrested for two-wheeler theft, and 55 stolen bikes worth Rs 27 lakh were recovered from them.

Dinesh (31), Faiz Shariff (21), Mahesh (24) and Praveen Kumar (32) are the arrested accused.

Parking attendants at Magadi Road Metro Station Mahesh and Praveen used to identify bikes parked outside the parking lot and inform Dinesh and Faiz, who would then open the handlock using duplicate keys and steal the bikes, the police said.

Dinesh and Faiz were habitual offenders, arrested and remanded in judicial custody previously. They became friends with Mahesh and Praveen for the past one year and would target only bikes at metro stations.

After a series of bike theft incident, the Magadi Road police suspected the involvement of Mahesh and Praveen and picked them up. During an interrogation, the duo revealed their involvement.
