The arrests followed a complaint lodged on June 30 by a woman who lost her 48-gram gold mangalsutra during the Iskcon Sri Jagannathaswamy Rathotsava on June 29.

The police detained Yashoda, 55, Gayathri, 33, Asha, 32, and Priya, 31, near Huskur Gate in Electronics City on July 11, recovering 140 grams of gold chains worth Rs 14 lakh and solving three chain-snatching cases.

All four confessed to their involvement.

They were produced before the court on July 12 and remanded to 10 days' police custody.

Further interrogation led to the recovery of the stolen gold from one of the accused's residences in Yadavanahalli on July 17.

The accused were remanded to judicial custody the same day.
