A four-year-old boy was killed on the spot after a goods vehicle mowed him down at SRS Junction, Peenya, on Tumakuru Road on Thursday evening.
The accident took place when the victim, Kiran Kumar, son of Rachappa and Ramadevi, was crossing the road with his parents, said the police.
The couple worked at an under-construction building and stayed in a makeshift shed in Peenya 1st stage, added the police. The trio was crossing the road around 6.45 pm and Ramadevi was holding her son’s hand. The speeding tempo traveller driver lost control and rammed into Kumar and the front wheel ran him over, added the police.
Local residents alleged that their plea for a skywalk to be constructed at this junction has fallen on deaf ears.
