A six-member gang barged into a realtor’s house in Health Layout near Srigandhada Kaval on Tuesday morning and robbed him of Rs 50 lakh.
A senior police officer said that according to a complaint by Ramugowda, his relative Gangaiah wanted to purchase land to construct a resort. He had withdrawn Rs 50 lakh from the bank on July 16 and had kept the money at his daughter’s house in Health layout.
On July 17, Gangaiah and his relatives invited the landowner at 7 am to discuss the land deal. As they were discussing, around 8.50 am, a group of five to six men barged in and threatened them at knifepoint to give the money.
They fled with the briefcase containing Rs 50 lakh, the police said. The suspects used a Ford Icon.
A senior police officer said the suspects were aged between 25 to 30. The police are verifying the CCTV footage of the locality and suspect that someone known to the victim.
The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have gathered vital information about the suspects and a probe is underway.
