The high court on Thursday reserved the verdict on the bail petition filed by Mohan Nayak N, the 11th accused in the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh.

The state public prosecutor opposed the grant of bail claiming that provisions of Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA) have been invoked against the petitioner.

However, the counsel for Nayak contended that the invoking of KCOCA against the petitioner is not right as there is no past history of his involvement in any case. He also claimed that the petitioner is innocent and has been implicated in the case.

Nayak, an acupuncturist from Sullia, was arrested on the charge that he had provided shelter and a sim card to the accused involved in the crime.
