Bengaluru Development Minister K J George has ordered action against engineers responsible for the bad state of the roads and flooding.

George held a meeting with Mayor R Sampath Raj, BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad and senior officials on Saturday.

“The minister asked us to suspend officers who are not taking their work seriously,” the mayor said.

Sampath Raj said, “The roads dug up by OFC cable companies and BWSSB are not being restored. It is the BBMP that is blamed since we are in charge of roads.”

He also said the Python machine will be used to fill potholes and since it has been raining continuously, the potholes will be filled with gravel and asphalt will be laid after the rains stop. George has asked the officials to fill all potholes and desilt drains by the end of December.

On waterlogging, the mayor said the problem can be overcome by just desilting drains.

“The Prahari personnel and stormwater drain engineers should ensure desilting of drains, which will reduce the problems by half. Excavators will be used to clear the accumulated mud and debris,” said Sampath Raj. He also said the Mysuru Road flyover was filled with gravel and overhanging branches were chopped to ensure the safety of motorists.
