An undergraduate student was raped and murdered in a pit between Guligenahalli and Javanahalli in the taluk on Wednesday afternoon, the police said.
The body of the 21-year-old girl, whose throat had been slit, was found in the pit.Her salwar kameez and veil were found in a bush, the police said.
The victim, daughter of a resident of Javanahalli, was studying at a government first grade college in Badavanahalli in Madhugiri taluk. She was attending a computer training class after college.
The police suspect that she was raped and murdered while she was returning to her village after attending the computer class at around 3 pm on Wednesday.
