The major metro stations on Purple line witnessed heavy crowds on Monday morning as Namma Metro officials could not run the lone six-car train due to technical issues.
Though the officials ran a short-loop train, the absence of the six-car train was palpable with commuters complaining about crowded trains and platforms on social media.
The glitch in the breaking system grounded the big train on Monday morning with officials promising to fix the problem in the evening.
“The six-car train could not be inducted today due to a technical problem. In the meantime three-car coach inducted in close frequency to manage the Monday rush,” BMRCL spokesperson U A Vasanth Rao tweeted.
Between 8 am and 10.45 am, the six-car train runs two round trips between Byappanahalli and Mysuru Road and a short-loop trip between Byappanahalli and Vijayanagar, as per the timetable.
The officials said six short loops were run in the morning, including a trip where the train slotted to run till Vijayanagar was terminated at Kempegowda station to clear the heavy rush on the platforms.
The official later said the technical problem was fixed and the train was introduced on the track in the evening for two round trips.
