Hologram clothing dominated the spring runways and they are all set to rule this fall season too.
Metallic has always been a hit with women, especially the experimental kinds, but this time, metallic has gone ebony white with all shades of colour reflecting in the form of holographic clothing. So what’s so special about holographic outfits that make fashionistas reach out for one?
Designer Ambika Ghorni of the Stillettos brand says, “Holograhic clothing was a hit in the 90s. As all trends do, this one has come back in a classy way. Stella McCartney, Hugo Boss and Jonathan Saunders - all are playing with holographic clothes. I think it’s because holograms lend a futuristic feel to your ensemble - almost as if you have just landed from another planet, though, in a smart and classy way.”
Designer Praveen Chopra says, “Holographic clothing is one of the hottest things this season. Some girls are afraid to don it but if you know how to mix and match and accessorise it, besides of course have the confidence to carry it, you can look really good.
”
However, both the designers say that holographic clothing is a bold statement and hence you should be careful about not overdoing it. Ambika says, “You obviously don’t want to look like a disco ball. So keep it minimal. That’s the mantra of pulling off holographic clothing.”
“If you are wearing a holographic top, team it with a jeans or legging in plain black or white. Alternatively, if you are donning a holographic pant, go for a neutral top. Holographic dresses paired with say, black boots look really sexy. Your accessories, though, should not be over the top. Certainly, don’t make everything shimmery and shiny.”
Holographic accessories teamed with casual ensembles also make a great fashion statement. Holographic pumps, shoes, stoles, watches, wallets, neckpieces, even nail polish can make you stand out in a crowd, especially if it’s an evening party.
Praveen adds, “Have a variety of holographic clothing. There is quite a range available in the market - from sleeveless to cropped to long sleeved to high-low. Purchase tops that flatter your body type. Cropped tops are in so you may want to try them. In case you want to add some shimmer to your office wardrobe, wear a sleeveless hologram top under your blazer for a bold, classy look.”
