‘Girl In The City’ was your first big break...

It was the first web series that I was a part of. I auditioned for it. In fact, most of my works are through auditions. Anand Tiwari, one of the founders of ‘Still and Still Moving Pictures’ production house and I knew each other from a youth theatre festival, he spoke to me about this particular project and called me for an audition. I auditioned and got through. 2016 was when the first season came out.

Was acting always on your mind?

Yes, I wanted to be an actor since I was 12. I come from a middle-class Marathi family and my grandfather was not very happy about my choice of career. Considering this, I tried doing other things but acting found its way back to me.

You have worked with two of the most experienced actors in ‘Karwaan’. How was your experience?

It was an absolutely enriching experience because there was only learning. They are extremely good at their craft and effortless actors. I was like the wide-eyed child lost in Disneyland.

You are just 25 and you have achieved so much already. Has success ever got to you?

No, never actually. I live with my grandparents and going back home is my reality check. They have managed to keep me grounded.

Which space do you enjoy the most?

I like being everywhere. For me, it is about working with good people in theatre, films or on the Internet.

Any memorable moments from the sets of ‘Karwaan’?

We had a lot of fun. The three of us, Dulquer Salmaan, Irrfan Khan and I, have become friends. I really enjoyed travelling with director Akarsh Khurana, he knows the best places to visit and places to eat, no matter where you go. This was my first trip to Kerala too. It was a lot of fun.

How do you spend your day when you are not working?

I have a swing at home, I sit on it and listen to music. Otherwise, I sleep a lot.

Plans you look forward to...

I don’t plan anything and the good part is that I have just started. It has been only two active years and I am excited by a plethora of things that I can explore.
