His sense of humour is the first thing you will notice about him. He is witty and quick but very careful with his words.

Bollywood singer Amit Mishra, who rose to fame with the song ‘Bulleya’ from the movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, has been raising the bar with every song of his.

With hits like ‘Sau Tarah Ke’, ‘Manma Emotion Jaage’, ‘Ding Dang’ to name a few, there is no looking back for this young singer.

In a chat with SurupasreeSarmmah, Amit gets candid about his musical journey.

From songs like ‘Bulleya’ and ‘Radio’ to ‘Galti se mistake’, you have been rendering back-to-back hits. What is your personal favourite?

‘Bulleya’ was a next-level recognition for me so it will always remain special to me. Apart from this the latest, ‘Suno Ganpati Bappa Morya’ from the film ‘Judwaa’ is my favourite.

One of the most challenging songs you have sung...

Most people think that ‘Bulleya’ would have been challenging. However, for me, every song that I have sung till today have been challenging in its own way. I will have to enjoy the song otherwise I wouldn‘t be able to sing it.

The ‘Ganapati’ song is trending... how does it feel to be a part of such great songs?

It is a great pleasure to give my voice as a playback singer for the third time to Varun Dhawan. And it was an honour to sing for legendary Sajid-Wajid. During the recording of the song, I also got a chance to meet David Dhawan, which was the cherry on the cake.

You have also sung songs in Telugu, Bengali and Marathi. Was language ever a barrier?

Singing songs in a regional languages is equally important. Language was never a barrier for me in terms of playback singing, but the only challenge that I face with them is performing these songs live. I would love to sing in regional languages but Bollywood will always have my heart and soul.

Your favourite television show...

I am very fond of television shows and series. The most recent one that I am fond of is ‘Inside Edge’. And of course, ‘Game Of Thrones’ is always there. Pritamda got me into watching this series. (Laughs)

Are you a dessert person?

Being a ‘Mishra’, yes I am a dessert person. I love relishing on Bengali sweets like ‘rosogollarpayesh’ and ‘gur patisapta’.

The weirdest Hinglish word you came across recently...

(Laughs) ‘Cooleshwar’.

Any projects that you can talk about...

There are a couple of video singles that I will be working on but it’s all confidential at this point. I am also looking ahead to work with young artistes too, so let’s see how it goes.
