Three women diverted the attention of a lawyer and his wife, and stole three gold chains on a BMTC bus on March 30, police said.

G Sridhar, a 59-year-old lawyer from Madipakkam, Chennai, had come to Bengaluru along with his wife to visit their son who works at a private firm in the city. The couple boarded a BMTC bus at the Silk Board junction to go to KR Puram where his son lives.

As the bus reached Iblur along the Outer Ring Road, three women got into it and stood right next to the couple who were sitting. One of the women then dropped a few coins near the couple's seat. As the couple's attention was diverted to the coins, the women quickly opened the vanity bag of Sridhar's wife and pocketed the gold chains.
