Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the ‘Library for Every Home’ project of the Kannada Book Authority, at his home office Krishna on Monday. He also released Kumaravyasa Bharata volumes published by the authority.
The first library of this project was established at Krishna, the home office of Siddaramaiah. Senior writer Hampa Nagarajaiah (Hampana) was present at the inaugural ceremony.
Chairman of the Kannada Development Authority Purushottam Bilimale unveiled the library plaque.
Libraries in one lakh homes
This project has set a target to establish libraries in one lakh homes across the state during the current committee period.
Its main objective is to develop a love for books among youth by building a small library in every home to save the fading book culture.
The authority coordinates with those who want to start a library in their homes and take literary figures of that area to their homes to inaugurate the library and issue a certificate. The authority also does publicity for these libraries. The minister for Kannada and Culture had announced last year that the seminal work Kumaravyasa Bharata would be made available to readers at a very low price.
Kumaravyasa Bharata
Accordingly, the Book Authority has released Kumaravyasa Bharata in two volumes, with price of both volumes fixed at Rs 500.
