The Transport Department has issued notices to Ola and Uber for violating the On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016. According to the rules, only the fares which shall be notified by the government on the basis of kilometre travelled shall be levied on commuters.

The department found that cab aggregators were charging fares on the basis of time, that goes against the notification of the government. The state government had issued a notification on March 3, 2018, stating, "No fare shall be collected on the basis of time and only the fares which shall be notified by the government on the basis of kilometre should be charged from the passengers."

The department issued notices to Ola and Uber under Rule 11(a) of the rules to submit their explanation. "On receipt of the explanation, appropriate actions will be taken against the erring parties that violate the terms and conditions of the Aggregator Rules," a press release issued by the department said.
