The state government on Thursday, submitted an order passed by the State level Authorisation Committee for Transplantation of Human Organs, granting permission to Varsha Sharma to donate her kidney to Colonel Pankaj Bhargava to undergo kidney transplantation.

The order was passed by the authorisation committee in an emergency meeting called by the committee following the Karnataka high court’s order passed on Wednesday.
The order also stated that the recipient is permitted to undergo the transplantation at the Columbia Asia Hospital, Hebbal, by the doctors authorised by the appropriate authority.

Varsha had moved the court after the Commissioner for Health and Family Welfare Department on April 10, 2018, denied her permission to donate a kidney to Colonel Pankaj Bhargava who was serving at the Head Quarters as Chief Engineer, Southern Command, Pune.
