Vital clues on ATM thief
Malleswaram police have collected vital clues about the suspect who made an attempt to steal money from an Indian Bank ATM kiosk in Malleswaram, in the wee hours of Tuesday.
“Initially, we were not sure who the suspect was. We have now established that it was the ATM guard himself who attempted theft,” DCP (North) Sandeep Patil said.
There is credible information about him and the police will arrest him in a day or two. He has not fled the City but has gone into hiding, he added.
Reacting to a report which claimed that police had arrested the suspect, Patil clarified that police had neither taken anybody into custody nor arrested anyone so far.
The CCTV footage showed that miscreants had struck at 2 am on Tuesday. Since they had covered the CCTV camera with a newspaper, their faces weren’t captured clearly. The guard along with his aides had made the attempt, police said.
The private security guard was posted at the kiosk just a week ago.
