Bengaluru: Weeks after carving out five new municipal corporations, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has finalised 10 zones for smoother administration. Each corporation will have two zones, covering one to six assembly constituencies.
The zones are CV Raman Nagar and Gandhinagar (Bengaluru City Central Corporation), Mahadevapura and KR Puram (Bengaluru City East Corporation), Jayanagar and Bommanahalli (Bengaluru City South Corporation), RR Nagar and Malleswaram (Bengaluru City West Corporation), and Byatarayanapura and Yelahanka (Bengaluru City North Corporation).
Each zone will be headed by a joint commissioner, who is a KAS officer, along with a chief engineer. There will be no zonal commissioners under the present arrangement, and the zones will report directly to the commissioner.
