Mysuru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said that, Greater Bengaluru city will be developed as an attractive model city in the entire country on ten thousand acre land like the Delhi model or Chandigarh model.
It will be much better than Bengaluru. Farmers who give away their land can take good money or an alternate equivalent developed land for it, and they will ensure farmers are happy about it, he said.
He was speaking to media persons in Mysuru on Friday.
When asked about H D Deve Gowda's letter to the Chief Minister to drop farmers' land for Bidadi township project, he said, "It was when H D Kumarswamy was CM it was decided to form seven townships in Nandagudi, Bidadi, Sathnur. DLF deposited Rs 300 Crore for that. BJP decided they can not do it and returned the money."
"H D Kumarswamy was CM twice why didn't he drop farmer's land from acquisition. Let Deve Gowda answer it. His son has done it during his tenure as CM. We are just continuing it. Politically they oppose everything. I will not denotify it and can't face any more allegations in this regard," he said.
Regarding changing the name of Ramanagar district, he said, "I know how to do it. I will definitely do it. It is south Bengaluru district. We are not outsiders. Our land, our right. Nobody can change names given by father and mother's name, they only get an affidavit," he said.
When asked if opposition parties have fear or jealousy about him, he said, "I don't know, maybe they love me more," he said.
Regarding the Cabinet decision and Rs 98 crore to perform Cauvery Aarathi at KRS Srirangapatna, he said, "We have already formed a committee of officials of tourism department, endowment department, Kannada and culture, irrigation and BWSSB to implement it. We are finalising the spot for it among a few spots shortlisted. It should be done by Dasara in an innovative way as per the aspirations of the young generation for River Cauvery is our lifeline (Jeevanadi). She gives water for drinking, irrigation and industries. Efforts may fail but not prayers. Hence we have decided to do Cauvery Aarathi praying for the well being of all. Kambala is a popular coastal sport. We plan to start it by Dasara. DC has been asked to identify land," he said. .
About the Central Government confessing about security lapses in the Kashmir incident, he said, "It is not the right time to indulge in criticising any one. As a responsible State president of a political party, I won't speak against any one and it should not lead to another issue and affect peace. Peace is important. Those who came from another Country, have tried to spoil the peace here. The Central Government has already decided to handle it. It is up to them. In this matter Congress will extend its complete support to all the measures taken by the Centre to protect the integrity and peace of the Country," he said.
