The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday informed the High Court of Karnataka that BDA had issued endorsements to land owners about dropping their land from acquisition on the same date following directions from then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Senior counsel Ravivarma Kumar, appearing for the ACB, said Yeddyurappa claimed that he took the decision to drop the acquired land after the Urban Development Department told him that there are no legal implications to drop the land from acquisition. The counsel said that the decision taken by the chief minister was bad in law and it was illegal denotification of land.
Justice Aravind Kumar adjourned the hearing to Tuesday. Yeddyurappa had moved the court seeking directions to quash two FIRs filed by the ACB and the proceedings against him. Two FIRs were filed against him in the case of 'fake-denotification' of 257 acres of land of which 3.6 acres of land was meant for Shivaram Karanth Layout in Bengaluru North.
