P Kodandaramaiah, former commissioner of Police, Bangalore, had moved the High Court challenging the BBMP order granting permission to install loudspeakers in the parks to play devotional songs.

“This created noise pollution and annoyed the residents,” the petitioner argued. “They also disturb the birds in the park,” the petitioner contended.

The petitioner said that the BBMP was not authorised to give permission for loudspeakers in the parks, as it was violative of the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act, 1976.

The Court asked the petitioner to file the amended application by incorporating the responsible parties as respondents. The matter has been adjourned.
