Bengaluru: Heavy goods vehicles and private buses have been prohibited on Ballari Road through the day from February 10 to 14, in light of the Aero India show, Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) said.

During the weekly press briefing on Friday, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M N Anucheth noted that the truck unions have been informed of alternative routes. “People going to the airport should take note of possible delays and traffic congestion if they use the Ballari Road on these days and plan their trip accordingly,” he said.

Authorities have arranged for free public parking at the GKVK campus, Jakkur. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is offering free AC shuttle bus services from the campus to the aero show viewing area.

Paid parking facilities are available at the aero display viewing area (ADVA) parking lot for pass holders at Gates 8 and 9. Vehicle users can go via Yelahanka - Rajanukunte - Gantiganahalli. Anucheth requested vehicle users to take this route instead of getting onto the airport road flyover as the latter would be a circuitous, longer route.

Domestic parking is available for people holding passes for Gate 5. They can take the airport road flyover, take a U-turn near Hunasamaranahalli and enter the domestic parking area.

“We have made two one-way roads for these five days — the Nitte Meenakshi College Road and Bagalur Main Road. Whoever is going to the airport can use the alternative routes we have assigned, which is to go from Hebbal flyover to Hennur-Bagalur and then the airport south gate,” he said.

Map services, cab and other mobility app operators have been informed of this arrangement, he added.
