Bengaluru: One section of the Hebbal flyover, connecting the international airport and the city, will be closed for traffic overnight from Wednesday, as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is taking up road-asphalting work.

Between 12 am and 6 am, for four days from Wednesday night, the BBMP is taking up asphalting work on both the lanes — from and towards the city — on the existing Hebbal flyover.

"This schedule is subject to rain conditions. During these hours, the flyover ramp towards the city will be closed. The BBMP will take up work on the lane towards the city first, aiming to complete that within the next two days," said a senior police officer in the north division.

In this time, people coming from Yelahanka and the international airport can take the service road below the flyover, take a right at Hebbal Junction towards Bhadrappa Layout, and go via New BEL Road and Mehkri Circle to reach the city.

BDA work on KR Puram-Baptist Hospital loop

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has taken up slab-casting work on the new flyover loop, connecting commuters coming from KR Puram and Nagavara side to Hebbal, Mehkri Circle, and further south. This work will go on during the midnight hours, necessitating traffic diversions.

After slab casting is completed, the BDA will take up asphalting work.

According to the BDA's schedule, slab-casting work is to be completed by July 13, while the crash barrier concretising, which has also begun on some sections of the new flyover, will complete by July 29. Asphalting work has been scheduled for a week from August 1; signages, lane markings and other miscellaneous work will occur between August 7 and 10.

The authority aims to complete the flyover construction by August 5 and plans to have this ready for public use by August 15. "As of now, we are moving as per our schedule. We have considered this deadline with ample buffer time as well," said a senior BDA official privy to the details of this project.
