With a new rule making wearing of helmets mandatory for pillion riders of all kinds of two-wheelers coming into effect from Tuesday, DH team hit the roads to check the response from commuters.

A few commuters said that the move would increase safety for pillion riders, others said that it could lead to an increase in corruption and harassment from the police. Helmet sellers too reported a marginal increase in sales.

While the police have gone easy on the violators so far, they  plan to enforce the rule strictly from January 20.
