Hospitals in the city wore a deserted look on Saturday owing to the bandh. Barring in patients and emergency cases, there were not many outpatients in hospitals in the city.

A few patients found it difficult to reach hospitals while others postponed their appointments. KC General Hospital, which usually gets over 900 outpatients a day, registered just 250 on Saturday, according to hospital authorities.

“I came from Yeshwantpur. Initially, I was hoping to get an auto but there were hardly any. One auto driver demanded Rs 300 for a few kilometres. I managed to get into a private bus after walking half the distance,” said Nagalakshmi, a patient who had come to the hospital’s outpatient department.

At Jayadeva Institute of Cardiac Sciences and Research, all doctors and nurses were present.
