A 56-year-old hotelier was bludgeoned to death by his 46-year-old wife and her 26-year-old paramour at the couple’s house in Sheshadripuram on Friday.

The deceased, Santosh Shetty, was the owner of 'Mahalakshmi Hotel' in Gandhinagar. He was a native of Kundapur, and was residing at 3rd Cross Nehru Nagar in Sheshadripuram.

Shetty and Annapurna were married for two decades and the couple have two children, police said.

Annapurna had developed a relationship with Prakash, a 26-year-old student. Shetty often picked a fight with her over this.

Pepper-sprayed

On Thursday night, Santhosh came home inebriated and quarrelled with Annapurna again, who in turn, pepper-sprayed him and locked him in a room. Their children were asleep in a different room, the police said.

On Friday morning, when Santhosh turned aggressive again, Annapurna called Prakash home.

The two hit Santhosh with a pole after which he fell unconscious. He was taken to a private nursing home after which he was rushed to Apollo Hospital where he succumbed to head injuries around 4 pm.

The hospital informed the police who picked up Annapurna and Prakash for questioning.

The police later arrested the duo, and booked them for murder.

The complainant in the case is victim Santhosh’s son Nagarjun.
